BEIJING: According to shocking claims by Chinese scientists the COVID-19 virus may have originated in humans negating the theory that the virus jumped from animals to humans at the Wuhan market. A study at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology claims that the genetic sequence of the samples collected from the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan was “almost identical” to those of patients infected with Covid thereby suggesting COVID may have originated from Humans.
Speaking at a press conference held by the Chinese State Council, Tong Yigang the Beijing University of Chemical Technology mentioned that over 1,300 environmental and frozen animal samples were collected between January 2020 and March 2020 following which they isolated three strains of the virus from the environmental samples. He also highlighted ” it is not necessary that the place where COVID was discovered first, be where the spot of virus genesis”.
China has been heavily criticized for blocking international probing agencies to investigate the genesis of the novel virus. The WHO chief has slammed China for not sharing enough information on the matter. However, China has reiterated that it was always transparent and cooperative in sharing the data with the WHO.
