Raipur: After the gloomy wave of deaths of six wild jumbos in Chhattisgarh in the last 10 days, Bhupesh Baghel led state government on Friday removed the Atul Shukla from the post of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) . While the state government has posted PV Singh as new PCCF.
In a minor reshuffle, Shukla has been transferred from PCCF (wildlife) to PCCF. Shukla has been given responsibilities of PCCF (State Research, Training and Climate Change) and director of State Forest Research and Training Institute. Besides, DharamJaigarh DFO Priyanka Shukla, Balrampur DFO Pranay Mishra have also remnoved posted at the forest headquarters in Nava Raipur. Baikunthpur DFO Rajesh Kumar Cahndele also posted at forest headquarters.
On Thursday, a male wild pachyderm was found dead in Chhal forest range in Raigarh district of the state. Earlier on Tuesday, an elephant calf died after being stuck in a marshland in Dhamtari district while an wild jumbo was died due to electrocution in Raigarh district on the same day.Also, carcasses of two elephants including one pregnant were found in forests of Surajpur district on June 9 and 10 last and while another jumbo was found dead in its neighbouring Balrampur district on June 11.
