NEW DELHI: In the highest single-day spike in nearly six months, India recorded 3,016 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active cases now comprise of 0.03 percent of the total infections. The active case load stood at 13,509 on Thursday. The country also added 14 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, of which eight were old cases reconciled by Kerala.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.7 percent while the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 1.71 per cent.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,68,321, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent. 

Amid a spike in Covid-19 cases in the national capital, Delhi’s Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has called for an emergency review meeting on Thursday. The city where the infection count had dropped to 0 reported a a drastic surge in the last 24 hours. Detection of 300 cases pprompted officials to hold an immediate meeting. Several states in view of the spike are also planning to hold emergecny meetings this week,

As per the ministry’s website, 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide coronavirus vaccination drive.
