PUNJAB: Internet ban is extended for the second time in order to maintain law and order in Punjab. As the chase for Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh entered Day 3, his uncle and driver surrendered today. His uncle Harijit Singh and driver Harpreet turned themselves in at Punjab’s Mehatpur.
Four of Amritpal Singh’s top aides, arrested and flown to Dibrugarh in upper Assam, have been charged under the stringent National Security Act (NSA). So far, the police have arrested 112 associates of Amritpal Singh — 34 of them on Sunday. Several members of his ‘Waris Punjab De’ group have been detained for questioning.
Meanwhile, Indian High Commission in London responded with a huge Tricolour a day after a group of Khalistan supporters brought down the Indian flag to the chants of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’. A group of Khalistan supporters on Sunday demonstrated outside the Indian High Commission in the UK, sloganeering with flags and posters of separatist leader Amritpal Singh. The posters, with Singh’s photo, said: FreeAmritpalSingh, WeWantJustice, WeStandWithAmritpalSingh.
The London Police on Sunday arrested a man on suspicion of creating a ruckus by lowering down the Indian flag. In a video shared widely on social media, an official at the Indian High Commission in London was seen rescuing the Tricolour from a Khalistani supporter and throwing out the Khalistani flag.
