NEW DELHI: Fresh details in the Nikki Yadav and Sahil Gehlot unearthed, victim’s father Sunil Yadav said on Saturday that he was ‘unaware’ about his daughter being married to Sahil since 2020.
A picture from their wedding ceremony has also surfaced. Earlier, it was reported that the man, 24-year-old Sahil Gehlot, had murdered her on the day of his wedding to another woman after a three-hour fight over the issue. As per investigators, Sahil Gehlot murdered his Nikki to marry another woman.
“No one in the family knew anything about Nikki and Sahil’s marriage. We don’t believe it. All those who are involved in the murder must get the maximum punishment,” a news agency quoted Sunil as saying.
As per sources, Sahil and Nikki got married in October 2020 at the Arya Samaj temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida. Sahil’s family was reportedly unhappy with the marriage and wanted her gone. The marriage was then cross checked with the priest who solemnized their nuptials. He also admitted that the couple seemed happy. He further went on to said the couple were accompanied by two others.
The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch on Friday arrested Sahil’s father, Virendra Singh, brothers Anish and Naveen, and friends Lokesh and Amar who were named as co accused in thr murder.
By Saturday morning, the officer said that the cousins and friends were also arrested for criminal conspiracy under sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), 202 (knowing or having reason to believe that an offence has been committed), and 212 (harbouring or concealing offender) of the IPC. They reportedly met Gehlot midway after the alleged murder
