BHOPAL: Reports have been making rounds that the government doctors called off their indefinite strike. A source known to the matter said that the doctors decided to call off the strike after discourse with CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s government. As per reports, Medical Education Minister Vishwas Narang promised that a high-level committee would look into the demands put forth by the doctors.
Protest by government doctors in Madhya Pradesh began on Thursday afternoon after a brief strike of two hours which rolled out to an indefinite strike from Friday onwards. Around 16,000 doctors protested on Thursday
Interacting with the press reporters minister Sarang said, “A delegation of doctors met me. A high-powered committee will be formed to look into their demands. The panel will submit its recommendations to the government and action will be taken on it in a stipulated time.” The delegation of doctors also met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Confirming to have called off the protests, the president of the Association of Medical Officers Medical Education Madhya Pradesh Sanjeev Jayant said, “Our organization has called off the strike.”
Their demands include a uniform policy for recruitment, promotion, regularization, and pay revision, a revival of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), and the appointment of working doctors to administrative posts instead of bureaucrats. They claimed that Madhya Pradesh was the only state not following the Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) 2008.
