RAIPUR: The Chhatisgarh DGP on Thursday approached the Director General of NIA seeking a probe into the killings of three BJP leaders in Bastar region, an official said.

As per an official communique since last year 555 Maoists surrendered under the government welfare programs. During the same period as many as 46 Maoists were killed in encounters, the communique added.

Three public representatives of the saffron party were murdered in Bastar region in the past 10 days. The latest was that of Ramdhar Alami, a former Sarpanch who the Naxals accused of being a police informer. They had also accused him of siphoning off money in connection with Bodh Ghat Project. On Feb 10th and Feb 5 Narayanpur district Vice President Sagar Sahu and Mandal president Neelkanth Kakkam were killed respectively.
