RAIPUR: A delegation of Sarv Adivasi Samaj reached the Raj Bhavan demanding the Governor’ assent on the reservation amendment bill. The march came on the heels of the change in Governorship of Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

Tribal leader Kundan Thakur led the march from Dantewada to Raipur. Interacting with the media he said that they will continue the protest if the delegation was not allowed to meet the Governor.

Earlier today, Vishwabhushan Harichandan replaced Governor Anusiya Uikey.

84-year old Harichandan has been a five-time MLA from Bhubaneshwar and Chilka assembly in Odisha. He had started his political journey in 1971 with Jansangh and later remained the Andhra General Secretary of Jana Sangh until 1977.. he has also served as a cabinet minister in BJP and BJD government in Andhra Pradesh in 2004.

The Chhattisgarh Assembly on December 2nd unanimously passed two amendment bills related to the reservation in government jobs and admission in educational institutions in proportion to the population of different categories, taking the total quota in the state to 76 per cent. Ever since the approval by the Baghel cabinet the bills have been disruptions as the former Gov Uikey denied assent.
