NARMADAPURAM: The body of an officer from the Indian Army was found hanging from a ceiling fan at the Pachmarhi-based Army facility in Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Tuesday. It is believed that the 29-year-old captain Sartaj Singh Karla committed suicide, however, no suicide note is found so far.
The incident came to the notice of the police on Monday evening. Following this, his body was brought down and wrapped in a bedsheet.
Captain Karla was learning Chinese at the Pachmarhi-based institute, which trains Army personnel in an array of disciplines including music and foreign languages, said local police station in-charge Rooplal Uikey.
Primary investigations revealed the captain stayed at Army Educational Corps Training College and Centre (AECTCC) from September 2022. Superintendent of Police Gurukaran Singh said Captain Karla’s death seems to be a case of suicide and they have not recovered any suicide notes from the room.
