NEW DELHI: As per the weather watchdog, IMD coldwave conditions have abated from the northern parts of the country however, the fog seems to be in place. People in the national capital woke up to a dense layer of fog leading to poor visibility.
On Wednesday, Delhi and NCR recorded a minimum temperature of 5.9 degrees Celcius at 6:10 am. The AQI in the national capital remained in ‘the severe category’. The IMD has forecast light rain or drizzle in the national capital on January 12 and 13. The skies will remain cloudy. Light rains can also hit Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab.
As many as 40 flights from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday were delayed due to the fog. As per media reports, the departure of 50 and arrival of 18 domestic flights was delayed. Around 26 trains were running late due to poor visibility owing to dense fog.
A notice by the IMD warned of the second coldwave from January 14 in the national capital. According to the weather watchdog, Delhi recorded the steepest temperatures after 23 years.
