NEW DELHI: As per the latest updates, Shraddha Walker murder accused, Aaftab Amin Poonawala’s lawyer has moved an application for the release of his debit and card credit from police custody.

Recently, the Delhi Police have found similarities in the bones and hair recovered from the Mehrauli forest with that of the father of the victim. The bone and hair samples from which the DNA was not able to be extracted were sent to Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) Hyderabad for ‘DNA Mitochondrial profiling’ to determine if the bones belonged to the victim.

Lets us take a look at the developments in the case so far

The Central Forensic Science Laboratory had last month recovered 13 bones from the Mehrauli forest. The DNA of 13 of them matched Vikas Walker, Sharaddha’s father.

On Dec 22, Aaftab withdrew his bail application before a Delhi court- citing it was erroneously filed. Additional Sessions Judge Vrinda Kumari stated that the court received an intimation from Poonawala that said, the bail application was moved by mistake. Aftab even denied permitting his advocate to file for bail.

He was arrested on November 12th and has been in custody since. At present is lodged in Tihar jail under full security after violence erupted when he was taken to the court for the first hearing. Subsequently, he is produced before the judges through video conferencing.

Aaftab underwent a polygraph test where he confessed to having committed the gruesome murder.

Aaftab, a 28-year-old boy from Delhi is accused of murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walker and dismembering her body parts in 35 pieces. After storing it for 3 weeks, he dumped the pieces one after the other in the Mehrauli forest over weeks.
