NEW DELHI: The IMD in a fresh notice on Friday warned of severe cold waves in most parts of Central and East India in the next 24 hours along with scattered rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and its neighboring islands.
As predicted by the Met Department, East India will record a temperature drop by 2 degrees in the next 24 hours. It has, however, not mentioned the exact temperature drop in the central regions.
Isolated light rainfall over South Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada during the next 24 hours, is predicted.
According to IMD, Dense to very dense fog is likely in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi and in some pockets of Uttar Pradesh while dense fog conditions will prevail in North Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya.
Rajasthan is expected to present Ground frost conditions in isolated pockets. Mount Abu, the favorite tourist spot and watering hole of Gujaratis, recorded its coldest day in 12 years with the temperature plummeting to minus 6° Celsius. The picturesque tourist destination in neighbouring Rajasthan wore a frosty look with its famous Nakki Lake freezing and forming ice on the surface. A thin layer of ice was visible on grass and water kept for birds and animals froze in the containers.
