NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday recorded a drop in its active cases, as stated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country reported 134 fresh coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours taking the cumulative tally to 4.46 crore (4,46,78,956). The daily positivity rate stood at 0.09 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 0.13 per cent.

The active cases dropped to 2,582 which comprises 0.01 per cent of the total infections. The recovery rate stood at 98.80 percent accounting for 222 recuperations taking the total recoveries to 4,41,45,66. 1.19 per cent of those infected succumbed to the infection. At present, the country’s death toll stood at 5,30,707.

So far 220.11 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive. A total of 91.12 crore COVID tests have been conducted since the pandemic.

The Union Health Ministry is a fresh set of travel guidelines mandated a negative coronavirus report is a must for passengers transiting through China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand, irrespective of their originating countries, before landing at any Indian airport.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, in a statement to the states, said that in the context of the evolving trajectory of coronavirus cases in some countries, especially China, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Japan, the guidelines were revised, and came into effect from January 1.
