Ever since the takeover, Twitter has been on a groovy ride beginning with its mass lay offs and dissolution of the entire board of directors to recent reintroduction of the Verified Badge. In his latest tweet, the lone CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk has questioned if he should ‘step down as the head of Twitter?’. The billionaire has pledged that he will abide by the result of the poll.

Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll,” Musk tweeted, following it up with a warning: “As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it.”The poll is about 6hours away from its deadline.

Stats reveal around 1,16,26,304 have shown active participation in the polls. Over 57.6 per cent of users replied to ‘Yes’ and about 42.4 per cent clicked on ‘No.’ The poll is open till approximately 4:30pm India time, or 3am PST, and so the result will be known soon.

While dissolving the board of directors, Musk had asserted that he did not want to serve as the CEO of the platform for long. He had mentioned to appoint a new face as soon he finds one.

Ever since the Tesla CEO took over the micro blogging site, he has come under heavy criticism for several changes he made at the ccompany. His tenure as CEO has been controversial, starting with a huge round of layoffs and encouraging more staff to quit or work “extremely hardcore” hours. He has also made fundamental changes to Twitter as a platform and has acted to dismantle much of the platform’s content moderation capabilities in the name of promoting freedom of speech in attempts to thwart possible bankcruptcy.
