DAMOH: Former Madhya Pradesh Minister and Congress leader Raja Pateria, who publically called for ‘killing’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save the Constitution in Panna, was arrested from Hatta in Damoh at around 5:30 am on Tuesday.

As per officials, he was arrested by the police from his residence in Hata town of the state’s Damoh district.

“A police team went to his house around 5.30 am to inform him about the arrest. They took him to Pawai (in Panna district) around 7 am,” Hata sub divisional officer of police Virendra Bahadur Singh told reporters.

Later, in a clarification video, Pateria said, “I am a follower of Gandhi ji and Gandhi’s followers can not talk about murder. The video has been misinterpreted.” “I meant to say that it is necessary to defeat him to save this country’s Constitution, to protect minorities, Dalits, and tribal and to remove unemployment. My intention about the murder has been misrepresented,” he added.

The controversial remarks came to the light after a video of the leader is purportedly heard telling Congress workers ‘be ready to kill Modi. Kill in the sense of defeating him” on Sunday.

“….Modi will end elections. Modi will divide on the basis of religion, caste and language. The future of Dalits, tribals and minorities is in danger. If you want to save the Constitution, then be ready to kill Modi. Kill in the sense of defeating him, Pateria was heard saying while addressing Congress workers at meeting of Mandalam Sector presidents organised by the District Congress Committee at Powai Rest House.

Narottam Mishra filed an FIR against the senior Congress leader on Monday following which a case was booked that led to his arrest.
