Bhanupratappur, Chhattisgarh: Congress has once again spelled its magic in Chhattisgarh’s Bhanupratappur by-election. Congress candidate Savitri Mandavi has won despite all the opposition regarding the tribal reservation. She has defeated her nearest rival Brahmanand Netam of BJP by more than 21 thousand votes. Former IPS and Sarva Adivasi Samaj candidate Akbar Ram Korram left a mark in this election. He contested hard with the two strong oppositions.

Congress candidate Savitri Mandavi was leading from the first round itself. Akbar Ram Korram, the candidate of Sarva Adivasi Samaj, showed the maximum strength in this election. From the beginning, it was believed that the main contest was between the BJP and Congress, but Akbar Ram Korram defeated Brahmanand in one round. However, after this, he took the lead after a lot of struggle. Still, the difference was not much with Akbar.

The celebration started in the Congress only after the sixth round, but the enthusiasm of the workers also got cold due to the constant trailing of the BJP candidate. The firecrackers started going off only after the eighth round was over. PCC Chief Markam also joined in this enthusiasm of the workers. At the same time, Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma also started dancing.

Apparently, the Bhanupratappur assembly seat came into existence in the year 1962. Since then 13 assembly elections have been held. Of these, Congress has won six times. However, since 1985, the BJP is also in the fray along with Congress. The candidates of both parties have won twice in a row, but no one could score a hat-trick. The Congress claimed to break this record and won the Bhanupratappur seat for the third time.

Congress candidate Savitri Mandavi said that the public has reposed trust in her. Now she has only one goal- To go to the people, listen to their problems, and solve them. At the same time, she also wants to fulfill the unfinished tasks and dreams of her husband. On the question of making Bhanupratappur a district, she said that it is in the hands of the Bhupesh Baghel government, but she will definitely put the matter of the people here in front of them.
