Rawalpindi, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members alleged that former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s helicopter has not been given permission to land for a protest rally on Saturday. Imran Khan is about to address a rally organized against Shehbaz Sharif in Rawalpindi on November 26. His helicopter was to land at the parade ground but has eventually been denied permission.
Imran Khan said on Friday that his party’s protest in Rawalpindi would be ‘completely peaceful’. Party leader Asad Umar tweeted, “The Islamabad administration has denied permission for Khan’s helicopter to land at the parade ground on Saturday.”
PTI Vice President Shireen Mazari hit out at the Islamabad administration for not allowing Khan’s helicopter to land. The tweet stated, “ICT has denied permission for IK heli to land at Parade Ground altho GHQ permission came yesterday – need permission from both! Clearly, this is farcical & a case of a good cop-bad cop. The fear of Imran Khan has seeped into Conspirators’ minds & they continue to threaten his life.”
Earlier this week, PTI filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking permission for Khan’s helicopter to land at the parade ground and remain stationed till the gathering was over. According to a report by a leading newspaper of Pakistan, the headquarters of the Pakistan Army has issued a statement in this regard in which it has been said that GHQ officials have no objection to the landing of the PTI chief’s helicopter.
In the same month, on November 3, when Imran Khan’s protest march was passing through the city of Wazirabad, his convoy was attacked. Imran Khan narrowly escaped this attack but he was also injured. Khan was ousted from the post of PM in April this year through a no-confidence vote.
