Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh: The Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh experienced a mild earthquake on Monday at around 2.35 pm. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported the same and informed that the earthquake was very mild as it measured 3.2 magnitude on the Richter scale.
On an official tweet, NCS informed, “Earthquake of Magnitude:3.2, Occurred on 14-11-2022, 14:35:46 IST, Lat: 24.57 & Long: 82.75, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 132 km SE of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.” In another statement, they clarified that the “Depth of the earthquake was 10 km below the ground,” and no casualties were reported.
Not only MP but Punjab also experienced an earthquake the same day. At around 3.42 am on Monday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 hit Punjab’s Amritsar area. However, no casualties were reported there as well.
Such frequent earthquakes keep happening in the country more often nowadays. In another such instance, certain regions of Delhi NCR felt jolts from an earthquake that occurred in the neighboring country Nepal. The incident occurred on Nov 12 at around 8 pm. Nepal experiences earthquakes very frequently due to its hilly areas. And the tremors are often felt in the neighboring states.
Though such frequent earthquakes are not too hazardous and do not cause much loss of life and property, a major earthquake hit Nepal back in 2015 that measured a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale and took the lives of around 9000 people and injured around 22,000 people. The disaster management teams of both countries must be well aware of such frequent quakes to avoid major damages in the future.
