Raipur: Chhattisgarh reported its first official fatality today with the demise of a 37 years old man who was admitted to VY Hospital, Raipur with complaints of respiratory distress.
The deceased was a resident of Kailash Nagar in Birgaon,Raipur, said the Birgaon Municipal Corporation Commissioner.
According to the sources, there was no travel history associated with the 37 years old. He used to work in a private factory in Urla. Two days ago, he was admitted to VY Hospital, Raipur after complaining of Lung pain. Mild symptom of coronavirus was detected due to which his sample was taken to AIIMS, Raipur where the test result showed him covid19 positive today.
After the first death reported from the capital city, the district administration has become alert and the whole area has been sealed, commissioner further said.
Earlier, a migrant worker from West Bengal who was traveling from Mumbai died on May 24 in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district, after his swab samples tested positive on Wednesday.
So far, in Chhattisgarh, the number of active cases has rose to 321. With this, the total number of infected patients in the state has reached 405. Out of which 83 people have been recovered from the disease.
