KARNATAKA: The Karnataka HC on Monday stayed an order of a designated economic court, ordering the blocking of Congress and Bharat Jodo Yatra Twitter handles. This move by the jurisdiction comes a day after the Bengaluru court passed a direction to temporarily block the Twitter account of the grand old party.
The Division bench of Justices G Narendar and Justice PN Desai heard the petition by the Congress in an emergency hearing on Tuesday evening. Abiding by the order passed, the Congress party agreed to remove the clip that used the copyrighted song before noon on Wednesday from all its social media accounts.
“We have read on social media about an adverse order from a Bengaluru court against INC and BJY SM handles. We were neither made aware of nor present at court proceedings. No copy of the order has been received. We are pursuing all the legal remedies at our disposal,” the Congress earlier tweeted.
MRT Music had filed a case of an alleged violation of copyrights – held by the firm for music from the film. M Naveen Kumar, who manages the company, had filed a complaint against three Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, for allegedly using music from the film for campaign videos.
