Calling off the social media bargains, the new Twitter chief remarked that the microblogging site will charge $8 for its BLUE TICK. The elite subscription that includes -‘ a verified’ badge would be a paid service, new boss Elon Musk said on Tuesday as he aims to monetize the service and make the social media platform less reliant on ads.

“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” Musk said in a tweet, adding that the price will be adjusted by “country proportionate to purchasing power parity”.

He also said that the price will be adjusted ‘country to country’ in proportion to its purchasing power parity. In a subsequent tweet, Musk outlined the perks of having a paid verified profile.

The widely used microblogging platform has been undergoing rapid changes since Musk closed the deal. The Tesla chief, in his latest move fired the 9 member baord of the directors and head the company as the sole director-which he claims to be holding temporarily.
