The popular Kannada movie Kantara which was released on September 30 has got a massive success at the box office. In the beginning, it did not garner such a huge response from the audience. But after two weeks, it picked up the mass, mainly in the Hindi language. The movie is written and directed by Rishab Shetty who also plays a pivotal role in it.

Apart from him, this action thriller also has an amazing cast that includes the likes of Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Pramod Shetty, Achyuth Kumar, and several other such artists. According to reports, it has already trespassed the 100 cr mark at the box office in the country and the overall overseas estimate has earned it a collection that nears the 200 crore club.

It is also one of the highest-rated movies on IMDb ranking. But with so much glory comes a bit of gloom also! And recently the makers of Kantara have been brought into legal trouble by Thaikkudam Bridge, an Indian music company. The movie has a song called ‘Varaha Roopam’ which is sung by Sai Vignesh and composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath seems to have a certain similarity with “Navarasam”, an IP made by the group as per their claim.

Taking to their Instagram handle, Thaikkudam Bridge shared a long post about this similarity. They wrote, “From our and our partners standpoint, we would like our listeners to know that Thaikkudam Bridge is in no way or form affiliated with “Kantara”. The unavoidable similarities between our IP “Navarasam” and “Varaha Roopam” in terms of audio is therefore a blatant infringement of copyright laws.”

They further added, “From our standpoint the line between “Inspired” and “Plagiarized” is distinct and indisputable and therefore we will be seeking legal action against the creative team responsible for this. There has been no acknowledgement of our rights over the content and the song is propagated as an Original piece of work by the movie’s creative team.”

They also asked their fellow followers and artist friends to spread the word and raise an alarm. Any official reply from the makers of Kantara regarding the clarification of this claim is awaited!
