KORBA: A video of an unknown forest department employee has been going viral on the social media. In the video made on the context of the recent death of an elephant in Baniyagaon under Pasan range of Katghora forest division the employee is heard saying that if an elephant is killed by a person, the forest department gives him Rs 6 lakh. So if the forest department kills the elephant, then all the villagers would handover Rs 8 lakh to the department. There is however, no response on the video yet from the Forest Department.

A herd of elephants killed a man in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district on Thursday night after a calf from their group was killed by a group of people in a neighbouring village.

The herd of 44 elephants to which the calf belonged entered the nearby Devmatti village in the Jatga range on late Thursday night. The elephants trampled Pintawar Singh and his three cattle to death when he was in his cattle shed, officials said.
