WORLD: World Health Organisation (WHO), FIFA and European Commissions have collaborated to work against domestic violence The trio has launched #SafeHome campaign in order to protect the women and children against the domestic violence in the pandemic. Domestic violence has been on air, but the lockdown has possessed a serious threat to women and children in the pandemic.
“Just as physical sexual or psychological violence has no place in football, it has no place in the home”, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO said.
“Violence has no place in our societies”, Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth said.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has expressed his concern and thoughts regarding the violence at home. The collaboration with WHO and European Commissions would help the football community to create an awareness in the pandemic.
In some countries, we have seen an increase in reports of domestic violence since the outbreak of COVID-19. It is our responsibility as a society, as institutions to speak up for these women”, the FIFA president Gianni Infantino said. The local helpline numbers and support services are being added to help out the victims and anyone who is undergoing social violence.
Around 15 current players and some retired players participated in the campaign. Few of them include Alvaro Arbeloa, Rosana Augusto, Khalilou Fadiga, David James and so on. All the players have stressed to raise their voice against domestic violence.Every 1 out of 3 women experiences domestic violence worldwide. Around 38% of murders of the wives are committed by the men or the partners at home. The children aged between 2-17 years have triggered the symptoms of emotional abuse, physical violence or sexual abuse.
