Turkey: Updating the death toll, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca confirmed 11 others have been pulled out alive and were treated in hospital after one of the Turkey’s deadliest industrial accidents in years struck Friday at sunset.

“The number of casualties due to the explosion in Bartin reached 28. Everything necessary for the treatment of 11 patients, 6 in Istanbul, and 5 in Bartin is being done”, tweeted the Turkish minister.

Prime Miniter Shebaz Sharif has also expressed grief on the loss of lives in the country and has extended condolences to the breaved families. “May those still trapped are rescued at the earliest”, read his tweet.

Rescuers have been sent in reinforcements from surrounding villages to help search for signs of life. But officials have made it clear that it is premature to draw definitive conclusions over cause of accident.
