New Delhi: In the latest update, NIA has claimed that the documents seized during the raid conducted at pan India offices of PFI contained incriminating materials targeting prominent leaders of a particular community.
Submitting the remand reports of what they called ‘Operation Octopus’, the probe agency sought special custody of 10 people in connection to the cases registered. It also alleged that PFI encouraged youth to join terrorist organizations.
It said the PFI spreads “dis-affection against India by wrongful interpretation of government policies to the particular section of people” to create hatred against the state and its machineries.
“During the investigation, based on materials collected, it has been disclosed that the accused named in the FIR were actively involved in the organised crimes and unlawful activities repeatedly, to terrorise other religious sections of the society, besides creating fear in the mind of the general public based on the larger conspiracy hatched among themselves and others,” the report said
In near-simultaneous raids across India, around 300 officials of NIA and ED September 22nd launched raids during which more than 100 PFI members were apprehended and over 100 were arrested. All electronic devices at the offices and the residence of the detained were confiscated and are being analysed at CDAC in Thiruvananthapuram.
