Raipur: The State BJP president Arun Sao writes to the CM urging the state govt to procure paddy from November 1 citing the loss incurred by the farmers in the previous years.
In the letter, Sao highlighting timelines of the harvesting season said that the farmers face a huge loss if they shall have to wait for a fortnight to sell their paddy which would force them to sell the paddy at Rs 500-600 less than the MRP so as to clear their dues borrowed to harvest the crop.
He further appealed to the state govt to arrange for Gunny bags as well to expedite the procurement process.
The state govt for the year Kharif marketing season 2021-22 began procuring Paddy from December 1st. Around 97.97 LMT of paddy was procured from 22lakh farmers, the highest ever since the state came into existence. The paddy procurement process began on December 1 last year and continued until February 7. A week’s extension offered respite to farmers who couldn’t sell their produce due to unseasonal rains.
