Prayer services were underway as the prince paid tribute to his mother and longest serving monarch of Britain.

Prince Charles III will officially be proclaimed the King of Britain tomorrow, on Saturday. Prince Charles had travelled to Scotland to be by the Queen’s side yesterday and is now making his way back to London to take over the formal responsibility. Charles III, said Thursday that queen Elizabeth II was a “cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother” who would be missed around the world.

We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the queen was so widely held.”
