New Delhi: Senior advocate Dushyant Dave broke down today while bidding farewell to the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana. In the ceremonial bench, while many spoke on the work done by CJI Ramana, Dave got emotional and stated that while he was scared when the CJI took over, CJI Ramana lived beyond everybody’s expectations.
“You have been a citizen’s judge I cannot hold back my emotions today. You performed your duty with spine. You upheld the rights… you upheld the constitution… you maintained a system of checks and balances. You are leaving the court in great hands of Justice Lalit and Justice Kohli. We will miss you”, said Dushyant Dave.
He further expressed his gratitutfe to CJI Ramana. Meanwhile, Kapil Sibal also praised outgoing CJI for maintaining the balance in court even during turbulent times.
“We are going through very turbulent times. It is difficult for the ship to sail. This court will remember you for maintaining balance even in turbulent times. You have ensured that dignity and integrity of this court is maintained”, said Sibal.
Earlier on August 4, CJI Ramana recommended Justice UU Lalit’s name as his successor. Justice Lalit will become the 49th Chief Justice of India.
