Bhopal: IMD in a fresh notice on Monday, issued a red alert for 39 districts in Madhya Pradesh. In its daily issue it informed that the deep depression over central MP and adjoining South UP has weakened into a depression.
A yellow alert has been issued across Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur, Rewa, Narmadapuram, Dindori, Katni, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Khandwa, Dhar and Dewas districts. Apart from this, moderate rainfall is predicted in 12 districts including Indore, Gwalior, Dhar and Khargone.
The IMD in its tweet said- “Depression over Central parts Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south Uttar Pradesh near latitude 24.4°N and longitude 78.8°E, about 60 km north of Sagar (Madhya Pradesh). To move west-north westwards across northwest MP and weaken into a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area next 12 hrs.”
“Depression over Northeast Madhya Pradesh near latitude 24.4°N and longitude 79.7°E, about 70 km north-northeast of Damoh (Madhya Pradesh). To move west-northwestwards across north Madhya Pradesh and weaken into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area during the next 24 hours.- it further added.”
Schools in Narmadapuram were issued a holiday today in wake of incessant rains. Air services have been suspended amidst rains, domestic flights have either been postponed or redirected.
On Sunday, District Education Officer informed that the Bhopal administration had also decided to keep all schools closed for a day in the wake of heavy rainfall. The decision came amid heavy rainfall in Bhopal and a ‘red alert’ warning from the Indian Meteorological Department on Saturday about heavy rainfalls in four districts of Madhya Pradesh. The warning came after intermittent showers continued to lash in large parts of the state.
