Mumbai: The Rupee on Thursday stumbled by 19 paise closing provisionally at 76.94 against 1 US dollar at the exchange today. The local currency opened at 79.60 and moved in a range of 79.60 to 79.71 during the day.
A day earlier the domestic unit closed at 79.45.
The dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.10 per cent to 106.68.
Meanwhile, gold in the national capital felt Rs 32 to Rs 52,224 per 10 grams. In the previous trade, the yellow metal had finished at Rs 52,256 per 10 grams
Silver also declined Rs 348 to Rs 57,298 per kg from Rs 57,646 per kg in the previous trade.
