Raipur: The Baghel govt on signed an MoU with the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bangalore to set up a national-level laboratory and testing at Nava Raipur.

The MoU between the state and the central power dept was signed by Ankit Anand- Sec Energy dept and CPRI Additional director BA Sawale at CMs residence office.

Unlike the other establishments across the country, this set-up in Nava Raipur will have facilities like transformer routine test, meter testing, oil testing and routine testing of all electrical equipment. As per reports, 10 acres of land have been allotted by Atal Nagar Naya Raipur Development Authority in Layer 2 Village Sector 30 of Naya Raipur.

The CPRI was established by the Government of India in 1960. It later transformed into an Autonomous Society in 1978 under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. For the last six decades, CPRI has been rendering dedicated service to the power sector.

Over the years, CPRI has set up 7 units nationally and has continuously developed expertise in Transmission and Distribution Systems, Short Circuit Testing, Ultra High Voltage Testing,  Testing of  Power Capacitors, Power Cables and Accessories, Solar and LED lighting Systems,  Energy Metering, Energy Auditing, Transmission Line Tower Design, Conductor Vibration Studies, Seismic Testing, Transformer Oil Reclamation & Testing, Diagnostic & Condition Monitoring, Estimation of Remaining Life of Equipment, New Materials for Power System Application and other related fields.
