The highly anticipated movie Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, is all set to release. Trolls are asking for a “boycott” of the movie, as it has been making the trends list. In a news conference on Tuesday, Aamir Khan responding to the controversy said, “If I have hurt anyone, in any way, I regret it. I wish to avoid hurting anyone. I would respect someone’s choice if they didn’t want to watch the movie.

Advait Chandan’s Laal Singh Chaddha is an authorised adaptation of the Hollywood movie Forest Gump from 1994. Kareena Kapoor plays his love interest and Aamir plays the main character with south superstar Naga Chaitanyas’ Bollywood debut with Mona Singh in a supporting role.

Aamir Khan’s 2015 interview, in which he said that his then-wife Kiran Rao urged them to leave India due to “increasing intolerance,” sparked calls for a boycott a while back.

Advait Chandan, the film’s director, previously responded to critics in his Instagram story, who claimed that trolls were “paid” to draw attention to the movie. His funny response was as follows: “I’ve been informed that certain people are being paid to troll Aamir Sir. It’s quite upsetting to hear this, and it’s also unfair. Why have I been trolling him for free all this time?” with adding the hashtag #PayEveryTroll.

On August 11, Laal Singh Chaddha will be released. It has been under production for more than 15 years. The film is co-produced by Viacom18 Studios and Aamir Khan Productions.
