New Delhi: A day after the IMD cited a shear zone of rain running along south peninsular India and its shift northwards gradually in the coming four to five days, an alert for the central states of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh has been sounded on Friday. An Orange alert has been issued to the Baghel state. An orange alert means very heavy rains of 6 cm to 20 cm.

As per the forecast, fairly extensive rains, along with isolated heavy rainfall (64.5 mm-115.5 mm), thunderstorms and lightning, are all very likely over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh for the next five days starting from Thursday to next Monday, August 4-8.

Isolated to scattered very heavy rainfall is expected to cross CG from Friday to Monday while Madhya Pradesh would record scattered rainfall on Monday.

The rains made a comeback in the Shivraj-ruled state on Wednesday night. Cloudy skies were recorded on Thursday in Bhopal with a possibility of thundery development and rain.
