Phom Penh: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken today discussed the situation in Sri Lanka, developments in Myanmar, and other global challenges at a meeting in Phnom Penh.

“A warm conversation to start meetings on the sidelines of ASEAN Ministerial in Phom Penh. Discussed the ever-strengthening India-US relationship and the global situation with US Secretary of State @SecBlinken”, tweeted S Jaishankar.

In the opening remarks, Antony Blinken said that the US and India are strong proponents of the ASEAN centrality in the Ino-Pacific. It is also understood that the rising tensions between China and Taiwan following U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s high-profile visit to Taipei also figured in the talks.

“We’re both strong proponents of ASEAN centrality. We have shared vision together for a free and open Indo-Pacific that we work on in so many different ways every single day”, Blinken further added.

Earlier in July, S Jaishankar held talks with his US counterpart Blinken on the sidelines of the G-20 foreign minister’s meetings (FMM) in Bali, Indonesia. The talks focused on a range of challenges with greater understanding and openness.
