Raipur: The state Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ministry on Monday issued an order stating that it would buy cow urine from Gauthans. Guathan Nayay Yoajan Director Ayyaz Tamboli has directed all divisional commissioners, collectors, chief executive officers, and district panchayats to make necessary arrangements for the scheme.

The scheme is to be launched on the occasion of Hareli Tihar on July 28th. Under the new scheme, the govt would procure cow urine at Rs 4 per litre as proposed by the dept of agriculture and farmer welfare in an attempt to generate income for farmers as well as to ensure sustainable cow protection across the state. The procured urine will be used for the preparation of pest control products and natural liquid fertiliser with the help of SHGs.

The five-pointer order issued stated the following

  1. Two self-supporting active Gauthans and Self Help Groups will be selected in each district for the execution of the scheme
  2. It has decided to hold training sessions for the members of the Gauthan management committee who will also fix the rates of cow urine on the local level from cattle rearers.
  3. It has decided to provide cow urine testing kits.
  4. An infrastructure will be set up to keep stock of cow urine purchases and production.
  5. The first phase of the pilot project will be done in two designated gauthans in each district.

This development came under the unique cash for cow dung scheme was launched by the Baghel cabinet.
