New Delhi: In a much needed relief from heat waves, the National Capital is finally enjoying the monsoon with heavy rains across all regions. Though the continuous rains have posed many challenges for daily commuters but the much needed drizzling dropped down the humidity level. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) commented on the latest situation and predicted that the capital along with Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive rains and thunderstorms in the coming days.
The southern most part of India, Kerala has received heavy rains since last few days as a result of which dams in the region are overflowing. The weather department on Sunday, issued an alert to those living along the river side in north and central Kerala. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of State has also called the people especially in the hilly regions to stay alert as heavy rains would continue for next five days.
The IMD has issued yellow alert for 8 districts in North Kerala including Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra are also facing flood like situations. Rajasthan also received 17.88 mm rainfall on Saturday till 6 PM as reported by weather department.
