Mumbai: In a major operation on Saturday, Mumbai Police caught a high profile gang of mobile scammers. Police have arrested two culprits in the case where they both were engaged in selling and purchasing mobile phones in an illegal manner.

A team of 6 officials from Mumbai Crime Branch raided a place in Suburban Mankhurd, Maharashtra Nagar on Friday and seized at least 480 top brand mobile phones from the spot. In the statement, an official said that the total value of seized material was around 75 Lakhs.

The list of seized materials included a laptop, 9.5 kg ganja, 174 foreign liquor bottles and two swords. The culprits will be put on trial for illegally possessing all the above items. A police official said that the gang men used to buy stolen high end mobile phones at discount and thereafter they used to sell them in different states at much higher rates. The police produced both the accused before a court on Saturday only. The accused were sent to police custody for further investigations and to find out if more such gangs are involved with them in this act. The officials stated that the probe is on and appropriate action will be taken after a detailed introspection in to the matter.
