Bijapur: The water over flow in the Indravati river has posed serious challenges for the authorities of Chhattisgarh. The river in spate has submereged roads and villages. 3 people including a CRPF Jawan have lost their lives due to heavy rainfall in Bijapur district. The worst incident was witnessed in the district when a truck loaded with Public Distribution System (PDS) rice was washed away in strong flow of water.

In Mettupalli, a truck carrying 200 quintals of ration were drowned in the water. The villagers in particular are facing acute problems due to shortage of food in the area. The authorities are trying hard to reach out to the affected people and villages but continuous rains aren’t allowing the relief operation to undergo easily.

Meanwhile, the district and state authorities have already issued a red alert in all the vulnerable areas; particularly the areas located near the Indravati river where villages can get submerged under high water flow anytime. Emergency helpline numbers have also been issued by the concerned rescue teams so that the villagers could contact them in case of emergency.
