New Delhi: India recorded 16,906 fresh infections in the past 24 hours pushing the cumulative count to 4,36,69,850. The active caseload increased to 1,32,457 after the addition of 1,414 cases in the past 24 hours. The total active count comprised of 0.30 per cent.

The recovery rate at 98.49 per cent accounted for 15,447recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,30,11,874. The daily positivity rate stood at 3.68 per cent, according to the ministry.

However, the mortality rate stood at 1.20 per cent recording 45 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,25,519. Majority of them being reported from Maharashtra followed by Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the South. The national capital accounted for 26,285 deaths, 23,548 from UP and 21,251 from West Bengal majorly. According to the Ministry, 70 per cent of deaths have occurred due to co=morbidities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.

With the administration of 11.15 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 199.12 crores according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
