Nainital: At least nine drowned on Friday morning after a vehicle carrying tourists from Punjab fell into the Dhela river in Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar. Reportedly, the car was washed away by the strong current, police said.

The incident took place at 5:45 am on Friday morning, while the 10 tourists headed home from the resort in Dhela. The rescue team deployed has recovered four bodies so far. Rescue operations continue to remove the others trapped, a police official said.

Among those rescued alive is a 22-year-old female identified as Nazia, who is being treated at Ramnagar Hospital.
