WASHINGTON: With more than 4.5 million people infected and nearly 300,000 deaths due to COVID-19 globally, the United States remains the worst affected nation with more than 1.4 million people tested positive in the country alone. The virus has killed

nearly 86,000 people in the state making the US President Donald Trump highly disappointed with the action of China, where the virus originated.

On Thursday, Donald Trump threatened China to cut off the whole relationship with the country in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus across the world that has caused huge loss of lives.

“There are many things we could do. We could cut off the whole relationship,” Trump said in a recent statement.

Various lawmakers and opinion makers around the world feel that Covid-19 spread across the world from Wuhan because of Chinese inaction. The authorities concerned have been putting continuous pressure on the US President to take action against China.

Responding to a question, Trump said that he does not want to speak to Chinese President Xi Jinping right now.

“I have a very good relationship, but I just — right now I don’t want to speak to him,” he said, adding that he is very disappointed with China. Since the beginning, the United States has repeatedly asked China to allow the international community to go into a Wuhan lab to investigate the origins of coronavirus.

“We asked to go over and they said no. They didn’t want our help. And I figured that was OK because they must know what they are doing. So it was either stupidity, incompetence or deliberate,” Trump said.

Mike Pompeo, the Secretary of State along with the President have claimed that the deadly virus originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the outbreak was first detected last December.

China has denied the allegations put against it regarding its response to the pandemic. Meanwhile, China also accused the US of diverting attention from its own failure by insinuating about the origin of the virus in China.

It is important to note that Donald Trump himself has been quite unsuccessful in controlling the virus in his own country and had delayed response to the virus. Earlier, the President had even appreciated China for its efforts in fighting against the virus. However, the blame game doesn’t really make any difference. The US could take actions against Chinese government if it claims it to be responsible but only proper systems and measures can help the US citizens who have been losing on a massive scale.
