Mumbai: Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, who breathed his last while performing at a Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata was cremated Mumbai on Thursday, June 2. His last rites were held in the presence of close family members and friends at Versova Hindu cremation ground.

His body was honoured with a gun salute at Kolkata’s Rabindra Sadan. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was also present at Sadan to pay her last respects. KK’s family took his mortal remains via a flight to Mumbai at 5.15 pm on June 1. The flight landed at around 8 pm in Mumbai.

Prior to the cremation, celebs such as Javed Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, and others arrived at KK’s Andheri residence in Mumbai for antim darshan.

KK was one of the most versatile singers in the Indian music industry. He has sung superhit numbers in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali, among others. KK reportedly suffered a heart attack. The playback singer collapsed after the concert and was rushed to a private hospital in the city. He was declared ‘brought dead’ to Kolkata’s CMRI Hospital around 10 pm. KK is survived by his wife and children
