Udaipur: The Congress on Sunday calling off its three-day brainstorming session in Udaipur, Rajasthan adopted the ‘Udaipur Nav Sankalp Declaration’, a roadmap for wide-ranging reforms in the party organisation to make it battle-ready for the next round of assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
The grand old party adopted a new road map after final deliberations were made by the party’s highest decision making body on key organisational, political, economic, agricultural, social justice and youth-related issues.
The Chintin Shivir held in Udaipur after a gap of nine years was attended by 430 leaders who had prepared six draft resolutions laying down their pointers for discussion.
Here is what the CWC Chiefs discussed during their three-day Chintin Shivir
- Enforcing the ‘one family, one ticket’ rule with exception to be made only when another family member has been working in the party for at least five years.
- No person should hold one party position for more than five years.
- Provide 50 per cent representation to those below 50 years of age at all levels of the organisation.
- Congress president will set up an advisory group from among Congress Working Committee (CWC) members to deliberate on political challenges.
- A task force will be set up to initiate the organisational reforms.
- Party will launch a ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kanyakumari to Kashmir beginning on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
- Party will also launch the second phase of its ‘Jan Jagran Yatra’ at the district level from June 15.
