Madhya Pradesh: After the centre of May 15th extended the wheat procurement program in six states including Madhya Pradesh, around 14 lakh farmers would now be selling the paddy at Mandis from Monday onwards.

During the Rabi Marketing Season this year nearly 19 lakh 81 thousand farmers had registered to sell their paddy at MSP, however, only 5 lakh 36 thousand of them sold them at MSPs while several more opted to export their produce for heavy benefits.

Wheat procurement centres in Indore and Ujjain divisions had stopped procuring on May 10th while, centres in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, Gwalior and Chambal divisions were scheduled to close procurements on Monday.

So far around 41 lakh 57 thousand tonnes of wheat have been procured from 5 lakh 36 thousand farmers.
