New Delhi: PM Modi inaugrating the “Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya” on Thursday became the first visitor to the muesuem.
The muesuem will showcase the contributions of all Indian Prime Ministers.The Sangrahalaya is an inclusive endeavour led by PM Modi, is aimed at sensitizing and inspiring the younger generation about the leadership, vision and achievements of all Indian Prime Ministers, said PMO in a release.
“Representing a seamless blend of the old and the new, the Sangrahalaya integrates the erstwhile Teen Murti Bhawan designated as Block I, with the newly constructed building designated as Block II. The total area of the two blocks is over 15,600 square metres,” PMO further said.
Spread across 15,600-square metre, the muesem located adjacent to the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library in Teen Murti Bhavan has 43 visitor galleries.The approval of the project for Rs 271 crore was sought in 2018.
The guiding principle has been to recognise the contributions of all the prime ministers in a non-partisan manner, say officials.The museum on 14 former prime ministers of India has been developed to create awareness about these leaders. It recognises the contributions of all the prime ministers irrespective of their ideology or tenure in office,” said officials.The museum is prudently designed inspired by the story of a rising India, shaped and moulded at the hands of its leaders. The logo of the building represents the hands of the people of India holding the “chakra”, symbolising the nation and democracy.
