Janjgir-Champa, CG: A 56-year-old mentally disabled woman was raped on Wednesday last week, police said. The woman is said to have been brutalised with an iron rod before her head was smashed with a boulder in Janjgir-Champa district CG.
Reportedly, the woman who used to stay alone after her parents expired a few years ago- resisted the rape and was thought to have died in a road accident until the autopsy reports revealed the truth. the lady survived through aid from locals.
Preliminary investigations revealed the assault the lady endured, footage of which was extracted from a CCTV camera in the vicinity. She was kicked in the stomach, punched in the eyes and then assaulted with an iron rod- said police officials probing the case.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested sources said. The accused is identified as Kishan Yadav who confessed to the crime of rape and assault, senior police officer Abhishek Pallava informed. “She kept on fighting, pushed him… infuriated, Yadav began beating her, forced himself upon her and killed her after the atrocities. He then fled the spot. The accused was arrested for murder and rape and is in jail,” he said.
