Kyiv: “This is another war crime of Russia, for which everyone involved will be held accountable,” Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said after a missile attack on Ukraine’s Kramatorsk train station killed at least 52 people on Friday.
After failing to capture capital city Kyiv, Moscow is refocusing its efforts on eastern Ukraine. Air attacks on southern and eastern Ukraine have escalated since the withdrawal.
Meanwhile, investigators in Bucha have searched homes and mass graves to learn the comb neighborhoods for the dead. Five men with clasped hands were found in a basement, apparantly they were tied before some one shot them.
More than 6,600 civlians were evacuated from the besieged Ukrainian cities and towns through humanitarian corridors on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said, the highest daily count this week, despite a missile attack on one of the corridors’ train stations.More than 5,000 of the evacuees were from Mariupol and Berdyansk, port cities occupied by Russian forces, Vereshchuk said. In the country’s east, more than 1,500 people were evacuated from the Luhansk region, while the missile attack on a train station in Kramatorsk killed at least 50.
Ukraine’s southern city of Odesa has imposed a weekend curfew over what it said was a Russian “missile strike threat”.
The European Union on Friday announced a sweeping new slate of individual sanctions targeting 216 Russian nationals and 18 entities. They include two of the adult daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as the aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaska and Herman Gref, the CEO of Sberbank, Russia’s largest lending bank.
