Gariaband, CG: Citing the rising deaths due to road accidents, the Gariaband police has taken a unique initiative of ‘Good Samaritan’ who will be appointed in villages located in the vicinity of accident-prone areas. Under their directive, those inflicted will receive immediate help. The campaign is being run under the leadership of SP JR Thakur.

In the past three months, Gariband has recorded 25 casualties in 70 road accidents while 107 sustained injuries. In order to inform the villagers and panchayat administration about the campaign, a public address was held in Devbjog, Amlipdar and Indagaon police station areas. Under the campaign around 5 social workers will be elected who will bridge the gap between the administration and the victims. The meeting was attended by DSP Nisha Sinha, and SDOP Anuj Gupta- in charge of three police stations along with SP Thakur.

Apart from them, 5 others acting as community police will also be elected in each village who will monitor the activities of the Good Samaritan and update the police officials timely.

Good Samaritan laws give legal protections to people who assist someone who is hurt, sick, or incapacitated. These laws help an abled individial to offer help to those in need wihtout a second thought.
