Ukraine: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Monday said that Ukraine’s version of what happened in the town of Bucha was a “fake attack” aimed at undermining Moscow. Lavrov said the dead bodies were “staged” and those images of them and Ukraine’s version of events had been spread on social media by Western countries and Ukraine.

Russia is continuing to build up both its soldiers and mercenaries in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, Britain’s Defense Ministry said on Monday. The UK also said Russia was still trying to capture the southern port city of Mariupol. 8 people were killed and 34 wounded in recent Russian attacks on two towns in southern Ukraine, prosecutors in Kyiv said on Monday.

The Ukraine government has asked the International Criminal Court to gather evidence of alleged war crimes, while some European governments are pushing for further sanctions on Russia in light of the allegations, which center on the town of Bucha on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital. European Union is ‘urgently discussing’ new sanctions on Russia after Ukraine accused Russia of carrying out a ‘massacre’ in the town of Bucha.

Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenk too, has claimed that Russian soldiers were looting, raping, and killing civilians in Ukraine. Bodies with bound hands, close-range gunshot wounds and signs of torture lay scattered in Bucha, a city on the outskirts of Kyiv after Russian soldiers withdrew from the area. Ukrainian authorities accused the departing forces on Sunday of committing war crimes and leaving behind a “scene from a horror movie.” Hachers’ group Anonymous has stated that personal data of 1,20,000 Russian soldiers deployed in Ukraine has been leaked.
